LIVE STRONG FOR CHASE |
On Sunday April 6th, Joy Esterson (PBA Ladies series Champion) and I Helped out with a fund raiser at AMF Southdale Lanes for 12 year old Chase Weese who has a inoperable brain tumor. We had a silent auction with Ravens Jerseys, signed Items from Walter Ray Williams Jr,myself ,Joy and Mika Koivuniemi. Nascar items, baseball items, Terps Items and much more. We raised over $5000.00 for the family's medical bills.
We also had a beat the pro's in which many tried their luck to get high count per shot against Joy and Myself and a 50/50 raffle. It was 20.00 to bowl for 2 hours and we all had a wonderful time !
Chase and his little brother Cory are avid fans of bowling and watch every show. They are also fans of racing, football and baseball and they bowled for 3 hours straight Sunday !!! What fun they had !
Many friends and family showed up to support this event as well as Betsy Hanson, the Mother of Stephen (see below), Stash from 98 Rock Baltimore (thanks for having me on air Friday afternoon drive time talking about this event ) for coming out as well as Micky,Amelia and Speigel from 98 rock for having me on air on the morning show Tuesday about this event. I also would like to extend my gratitude to Sean Lepper and the Lepper family,Dave Bauer and Cheryl Hyatt of D&S Pro Shop and AMF Southdale Employees for all their help in organizing this Fund raiser.Amy Miller,Maureen Cocca and Dana Iannantuono for running the silent auction and 50/50 's.
A HUGE thanks to Rafael Visoso, the Manager of AMF Southdale, for hosting this event for Chase as this would not have been possible without his Center.
Chase has had many operations and has suffered a few strokes because of this brain tumor and for a young man of 12 he continues to amaze all who he is around living as if nothing is wrong! He has had countless MRI's Ct's and other tests and the Weese's medical bills are insurmountable. Frank and Chris Weese contacted me a few years ago about his son and we all became friends because of bowling !. I actually introduced Chase to another little sick boy , Stephen Hanson and they became friends. Stephen did pass in late May from a similar brain tumor last year but the memories we have from this brave young man carry on. (http://pba.com/news/feature.asp?ID=342&Type=0)
If you would like to donate to help out this young man here is the address for the Weese family:

Joe Gibbs Racing |
|
While helping out at a Charity function for Chuckie Gardner after the Spartanberg PBA event a few of us were invited to Joe Gibbs Racing. To see the behind the scenes things that have to happen before a NASCAR Car hits the track. It's so much more involved then "cars going in circles" . Every little thing matters to get these cars to go fast. This facility is over 400,000 thousand sq. feet and has everything imaginable to build a complete car from the ground up,which is what they do.A few Pictures will soon be up in the pics section.... |

NHRA Draqrace Event in Reading PA |
|
In January I did a piece on ESPN with Drag racings Worsham's in Orange Ca that aired on both the PBA and NHRA shows. Last week I had a chance to see Del ad Chuck Worsham's Checker-Schucks-Kragen's Funny car hit the track along with PBA member Jim Tomek. All I can say is 8000 horsepower is unreal ! My head about blew off when the went down the track at 320mph in 3.8 seconds in 1/4 of a mile and that was with earplugs! Del Qualified #1 and lost in the Semi finals. Go to the link for pics and to Del's website....www.delworsham.com (in the pic-Chuck Worsham-ME-Jim Tomek-Del Worsham) |

NASCAR BUSCH Series Race. |
Took a drive down to Richmond International Speedway on May 3 to see my good friend Stephen Leicht Race in the Busch series race on Friday night. After spending the day with his Father Russ and Coach driver Randy watching Qualifying, we met up with Stephen in the Garage area. I hung out and took some pics of the ongoings which will be posted on here soon. Stephen ended up 24th and struggled with his #90 Citi Financial Ford as it was tight all night. Keep an eye out for Stephen in the future ! By the way he grew up a bowler and His Father Russ bowled regionals back in the late 1980's ! http://www.stephenleicht.com/
(UPDATE- Stephen won his first BUSCH SERIS race on Sat. 6-17 in Kentucky! ) |

We did a ESPN shoot that will run on one of our bowling shows and on the NHRA show possibly after our Dallas show in a few weeks. Look for both.....There will be pics up soon..... |
